   Chapter 5- So much for a Red Lever

    I woke up the next day. The Colden was shinning its brightest and Ryan was already out of bed and pulling out clothes for herself. I said "Hello." in a very sleepy voice. Then she jumped up like 8 feet. She cried "You almost made me jump out my skin!" "Why were you doing something sneaky?" I said suspiciously. "No. I was trying to find clothes." she said. "Is that the truth?" She gave me a frown. "I'm kidding." I said and then laughed. Her frown turned to a funny face. She stuck her tongue out and crossed her eyes. I shouted "Eew!"
  When we had gotten dressed and went down 21 floors to the breakfast area. When we opened the glass doors, a wonderful aroma of sausage and scrambled egg filled the air. I sat down at pink table with blue napkins and yellow chairs. An interesting mesh of colors. Breakfast was served right in front of me by waiter with a yellow apron, yellow socks, yellow necklace, and a white blouse. I realized that no one else was getting served by waiter. Everyone else was getting up and going to the buffet line. This embarrassed me. Did people still think I was weak I thought, but 'I'm not weak.' I thought again. Just to make sure everyone knew that and didn't think I was weak, I shouted out loud "I'm not weak!" Everyone in the room stared at me. Then somebody shouted "Just eat!" I realized it was Kaka's voice. He was sitting at the trainers table. Then everything returned to normal and Ryan came back to the table. "What was that?" she said. "I got mad." I replied. "Obviously." And then we both burst out laughing.Why? I don't know.
   After we ate, we went our separate ways, to our training rooms. When I arrived, Kaka was standing right in the middle of the room, frowning. I wanted to say, "What's wrong?", but I couldn't manage to speak. I thought it might have been because I shouted out at breakfast... But after a moment, I stood star struck, dumb founded. Kaka, he wasn't frowning because of me. I turned to my right, the whole glass mirror, like the ones in dance studios was smashed and a hole, pitch black was in the middle of the smashed glass . Tiny crystals of glass were scattered around the floor, glimmering like ice. He suddenly shouted "Dont move! You'll cut yourself, or slip or worse, slip and cut yourself. Pull the red lever, will ya." He pointed behind me. I turned around and a sparkling red lever was hanging from the ceiling. I yanked on it. A bell started ringing, footsteps hurried by outside the room. I turned to Kaka again. I asked him "What does that lever do?" Silence filled the air for what seemed minutes, but was only seconds. He started talking slowly. "That lever, that damn, stupid lever. We should have never had to use, but you see now, some spy from Hell's side, has some how crashed through our mirror and left a note. It says in pretty little, stupid hand writing, 'we are coming for them.' They mean you and the Colden, but this reflects bad on all of us. This means his army is coming soon, they are going to try to kill you and somehow take the Colden because, you are and the Colden together, are immense power. Our power and they know, they wont stand a chance as long as we have you and the Colden. See, somewhere in the Halo, is a spy and this spy could be anywhere. And that lever, means lock down. See, we have a procedure for this kind of terrible happening. When you pulled that lever, you heard a alarm, right?" He didn't wait for me to say yes. He went on. "That bell is the signal, that we are in danger or danger is coming. Everyone is sent to their rooms and those people stand outside, while a guard checks the room for any kind danger, or in this case something the spy has left or the actual spy itself. Then after that, the people go inside their rooms. Two guards stand outside each door. Then, in a minute now, the Importants and their guides, are called to a top secret meeting, 12 stories deep in the ground. This includes you. Anyways, back to the people. Once all are in their rooms, their will be the opening of the doors. This means the back wall of each room, will slide up. There will be a lounge for everyone. Food will be delivered there, clothes and letters. There is one lounge per resident purpose. Which means, the spies and people training for the army will have one lounge, the people who work here, will have a lounge and so on with everyone else in the Halo." He paused for breath.
   Then finally, I realized this pause for breath Kaka was taking, was a chance for me to ask questions. So, it was my chance to talk, I thought. "Kaka. What about the people in the cities?" He reply so softly, you could barely hear. "In all the cities of Light Chesna, when all the houses were built, even hundreds of years ago, a small passage was built in each house. The passage was placed in a flower pot. This flower pot, once built in, is impossible to pick up. Each house has a different kind of flower and the flower pot is in different places in each house..."   Interrupting Kaka, I said "What does a flower pot have to do with a passage and this lever?" "I wasn't finished. So when you pulled that lever, it did not only set off an alarm in the Halo, but everywhere in Light Chesna.  So, everyone, right now, will be packing there most needed and important things. Then, the  family in each house will go to their flower pot. There is a little, fake, sprout, so small, you have to look so closely to see it. So one of the parents will, touch the sprout and interestingly enough, the sprout is a finger print scanner. Then once a family does this, a number keyboard will appear out of the dirt. The family will type in the secret code for their family and hit enter. The pot will open on one side and a flower, which is a video camera looks at each family member, that is another security procedure. Then the dirt and flower part of the flower pot will rise above. This makes an opening. An opening at the top and then there is the side of the pot that opened a little before with the video camera. This space is just big enough for the family to go in. Once all in, one person will type in their second secret code and the flower pot will close, looking perfectly normal, like it was just a normal flower pot. This tunnel they are in is lit with bright blue lights. There will be officers in the tunnels to help the families get to the Halo. So, all the houses in light Chesna are connected by tunnels underground and they all lead to the Halo. "
   There was another pause for breathe and by this time Kaka was almost panting. I had one more question though. "But, but, how will everyone in Light Chesna, fit in the Halo? It is big, but, but...." He now interrupted me. "Underground, Jane, under the Halo, is a hotel. Imagine, the Halo, um, about 20 times bigger. This hotel sort of thing, is built into the ground, reaching thousands of miles deep. The hotel reaches about, maybe 200 to 400 stories deep. OK, enough questions, I'm tired of talking." "But, wait! I have one more." He frowned at me. "Just kidding." I said with a bit of cheek.
   I was thinking. All the other times I'd been to Light Chesna, it was peaceful and happy. And how had I not known all of these procedures. I had been here multiple times before. A couple seconds after that, a big burly officer barged in. "You two come, now." I realized this big burly officer was Dave. He was my guard. I saw it on my sheet when I arrived here. And I had met him before. He usually had a mellow, sweet voice. But now, he just had a growl in his voice, his face red and angry. And after that moment. I knew things were bad.
